How long should my belt conveyor be?

SoRoTo® Belt conveyors are available from 2m to 8m - and they can of course all be serial connected, so your material can get around corners and as far as you want it.

SoRoTo® Belt Conveyors are the lightest on the market - so don't choose a smaller version beacuse of the weight. With the aluminium frame, the open construction, and the perfect balance point, it is easy for one man to move even an 8M Belt Conveyor.

The holes in the steel plates under the PVC-belt cools down the belt and the machinery, and ensures that the conveyor cleans itself during opretaions. And a small detail, that people tend to forget, the holes make the plates lighter.

BELT CONVEYORS FROM 2 TO 8 M

Our 8m belt conveyor is the longest conveyor on the market. Since the conveyors are made of aluminium, an 8m conveyor weighs as little as 120 kg. And, worth noting, that is NOT 120 kg for you to carry around. If you are to move the conveyor, you put the undercarriage at the balance point (which is clearly marked on the frame), and it is easily moved. If you are moving is to another building site close-by, the efficient way to move it would be with a forklift.

You can purchase truck pockets, that can be mounted on all sizes.

When you move the undercarriage, you change the angle of the belt, and a SoRoTo® 8m Belt Conveyor can reach all the way to 6 metres.

If something happens, and a steelplate brakes, the unique modular build-up means, you only have to change a single, small part, rather that an 8m full length steel plate.

The next size is the 6m conveyor which can reach a height of 4,5 metres.

The 4.5m belt conveyor and the 3.3m belt conveyor are the most popular sizes, when it comes to jobs such as basement excavations. Both length, height and width fits the small space available, not least in regards to the basement window.

The 3.3m also has the perfect length for mounting it on scaffolding through the unique scaffolding fittings, that are installed on all SoRoTo® Belt Conveyors. The 3.3m is also frequently used for transporting material in or out of a forced action mixer.

The 2m belt conveyor is mostly for small, narrow work areas, in suits many staircase ledges, for instance.

How great an angle can I put my belt conveyor in?

If you need to move something in an angle, it's important to look at the length of your belt conveyor.

The transport undercarriage is a standard issue on a SoRoTo® Belt Conveyor. It is easily clicked on anywhere on the frame - and thereby changes the angle of the conveyor.

The angle depends on how heavy and dry your material is, as well as the shape. If you move very light and dry material such as hay or woodchips, upwards at an angle, there's a risk of it falling backwards.

This is whby purchasing the correct belt is also very important. A SoRoTo® Belt Conveyor can, as a rule, be delivered with one of 4 belts. With 10mm carriers, with 30mm carriers, without carriers or with the especially strong, reinforced belt. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you ave other needs. We can most certainly help you.

The PVC belt with 10 mm tall carriers is an all-purpose belt. It suits most pruposes. It is mostly used for rubble and other construction waste.

If you move light material, tall carriers are best. You should use the belt with 30mm carriers. If you use your belt conveyor for wet mortar or equally wet and heavy material, you should use a smooth belt without carriers, so you diminish the amount of corners where the material can get stuck.

The reinforced belt, which is in 3 layers, is for especially sharp material, that would risk cutting into the regular belt.

If you use the correct belt, you can, as a rule, tilt your conveyor in the angle shown beneath:

The horizontal axes is the length of the belt conveyor, and the vertical is the height.

DO YOU HAVE ONE OR MORE CONVEYORS, BUT ARE YOU NOT COMPLETELY SURE ABOUT WHICH SIZE(S) YOU HAVE, YOU CAN MEASURE THEM

2,0 M Belt Conveyor: 202 cm

3,3 M Belt Conveyor: 330 cm

4,5 M Belt Conveyor: 470 cm

6,0 M Belt Conveyor: 620 cm

8,0 M Belt Conveyor: 810 cm

We also have an infeed hopper for loading with a wheelbarrow, which gives you a wider loading area, and protects the belt and machinery from tear.
